what makes you gain weight when you quit smoking?

help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more

I havent quit yet, but i want to. The only thing stopping me is the weight gain. What makes you gain the weight? Do people tend to eat more? Or is it just the quitting itself that makes you gain the weight?

STOP SMOKING and put up all anti smokers TAX?

IM SURE they would like that.
maybe they would sooner us smoke than pay EXTRA 30% tax
and have their mortgage payments go up to 15-20%
and also how many ANTI smokers use the NHS. you know what most of smokers tax pays for.
if all smokers stopped today
what would happen?????
maybe another black monday when interest rates was @ 15%
maybe some of the young anti smokers
are to young to remember.
but lots of people lost their homes
smokers and anti smokers.
and it can happen again.
when we are all made to stop smoking by the GOV.
where will the billions of tax come from.

Would/do warning on cigarette packets stop you from smoking or have you quit because of seeing them?

I don’t smoke myself but am just curious.

I doubt they would stop me either if I did smoke.

There was a time when cigarette companies swore that smoking cigarettes was totally safe and harmless. The?

cell phone companies are saying the same thing about using cell phones, that they cause no harm to your brain. But how would they know when there have really been no long term studies on the topic. There are some experts who say that the radiation coming from your cell phone could do some damage to your brain. I’m really not a conspiracist, but i feel as if the cell phone companies are holding out on us, just like the tobacco companies did. They had done studies that proved that smoking increased your risk of lung cancer, but they withheld that information from the public. It could be that the cell phone companies are doing the same thing.
The question is, isn’t it possible that cell phones cause brain turmors, and the cell phone companies know about it, but are not telling us. That is the question.

Is there a point after you quit smoking when you completely stop craving? Or is it always tempting?

I haven’t been smoking long- 5 months. I wouldn’t say I was addicted, but I still get daily cravings. Do non-smokers ever stop getting cravings?

Will hypnosis help me to stop smoking?

I am 24yrs old and have smoked for 10 yrs. I have managed to cut down to 5 a day mainly because i have a baby and am limited to when i can go and have a sneaky one. I want to quit because i have a wheeze on my chest which scares me and i want to be around to see lil one grow up.
You’d think this would be enough alone to make me stop but the evil weed has me hooked.I can go cold turkey for a few days until i get a bad temper and get aggitated, stressed out resulting in me giving in.
The patches give me migraines and make me feel light headed.I don’t fancy the gum.So how does hypnosis work in helping to stop me smoking? and has anyone had any success with it?
Or any other helpful tips on quitting would be great!

How is encouraging people to stop smoking by raising taxes supposed to raise money for health care?

Lets think this through. Raising taxes is supposed to do two things:

1) Get people to stop smoking.
2) Raise money for health care.

If #1 is successful, what happens to the health care funding?
Remember the funding often goes to unrelated issues like child health care, not always to smoke prevention.
