Marijuana when smoked - contrary to many (pot smokers') beliefs irritates and damages the lungs just as much as cigarettes or sticking your head over a bonfire. Being overweight puts more pressure on the lungs too because, to put it simply, excess body fat (both internal and external) can compress the lungs and there is the added exertion of carrying extra weight - it's hard enough to get oxygen around the body as it is.
