I love my bf we’ve been together for 7 months and we are also both 16. he smokes weed. He was starting to use it everyday but stopped and smokes once a week now. I’ve tried to get him to stop but he just says it’s not a big deal. Now I just tell him I don’t care but I really do. How can I convince him to stop? Please help I don’t want him to ruin his life

Whether he likes to acknowledge it or not, smoking weed is addictive and can have longer term consequences on his health and mental wellbeing. Apart from that, it is illegal. It is a big deal and if he had any respect for you or your worries, he would make an attempt to stop. Do you really want to be associated with a dope head? Maybe you should give this one a break for a while until he sorts himself out. You may be in for an upsetting time but if he carries on the anguish and worry will be upsetting anyhow. If he truely loves you, he will stop. If he loves his weed more than you then he won’t and that is a good mirror of where his love lies.

he’s not going to stop…. trust me i’ve had a lot of experience with this, you can’t change someone. i used to throw huge temper tantrums when my boyfriend smoked it, and it was pathetic. now i just accept the fact that he likes weed. i even smoked it with him once, it’s not bad as long as it’s not anything more than that.
There is nothing you can say or do that can convince him to stop. He has to want to stop on his own. Don’t start throwing around the saying, "If he really love me he would…." Because that is a flipped sword of, "Why can’t she just accept me for who I am?"
