help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more
My mom told me she quit smoking but I know she hasn’t. she smells like smoke and keeps cigarettes in her purse. I always tell her the dangers of smoking without actually telling her to quit smoking. She says she knows but she keeps smoking. Three people in our family have had breast cancer and I’m afraid she might kill herself. I care more then she does. How can I get her to stop?

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

Tell her how much it means to you, tell her all of the things that you want her to be there for in your life. Graduations, Wedding, Grandchildren.
Then, tell her to read this book. Seriously. Allan Carr’s easy way to quit smoking.
I read this book, my husband read this book, both of my parents read this book. We have all quit. No cravings, no withdrawal. She does have to be ready for it though. If she isn’t ready to quit, nothing with help her.
Smoke with her, fake death.
Talk to her doctor or tell her to talk to a doctor. If your mother really cares about her own health, that’s what she should be doing. If she doesn’t want to, you should talk to your mother’s doctor and express how concerned you are. Smoking is very dangerous and hard to quit.
tell her smoking increases her risk for all kinds of cancer, heart attacks, heart disease, stroke, all kinds of lung diseases. tell her you love her so much and it would kill you if she died from something that could be prevented. my dad is an ER doctor and he sees smoking related illness ALL the time. it really ticks him off cuz its so preventable.
maybe try pointing out all her option, like the gum, or the electronic cigarette, or the patch. you need to ask her to quit, not tell her. remind her how much you love her over and over. tell her you want her to stay around to watch you grow up and have your own family.
sweetheart, I know it sucks having to be around that and or seeing your mother smoke but unfortunately as bad as you would like her to stop tehre is not really much that you can do. someone could try evrything possible if the person doesnt want to quit doing something then there is no point in trying to make them. maybe you could try sitting down with your mother and talk with her about how you feel about the smoking, how it effects her health and that you would like it if she would try quitting or cutting down at least. sometimes the best way to stop a habit is doing it very slowly. example, I used to drink about 4-5 bottles of beer mixed drinks every night for about 6 months, even though it may not seem like that long it was and was very hard to cut down. I went back with my father so that he could help, he cut me down to only 3 bottles of beer at first no mixed or anything and about after 2 months then it went down to 2 beers and thats how it has been since. ever since that I have learned how to control myself and how much I consumed. I hope the best for you. I know it can be frustrating.
You could buy her an electronic cigarette. It’s a bit expensive, but my mom just got one and is doing well. It feels like a cigarette and everything. There’s really no huge difference. Just the lack of carcinogens. Doesn’t smell bad at all and she can "smoke" anywhere.
As fox said, Nicotine gum would work. There is also this nicotine strip called Snus (or Swedish Snus) you can buy them at tobacco shops. They work very well and they are not nearly as bad as smoking. And the snus is much easier to quit than cigarettes. Mention it to your mom.
By the way, you Mom has to want to quit. If she doesn’t want to quit there’s nothing you can do.
"MOTHER. STOP SMOKING OR I WILL DISOWN YOU."
I have the same problem with my dad. He’s always smoking around my sister even though she has bad asthma and it always get’s in my mouth and eyes.
He smokes in the bathroom and leaves ashes everywhere, smokes while making food and smokes in the car with all the windows closed. He smokes about 260 a week and both of his parents died before they were 70 from heart attacks. He says he’ll stop when he’s 50 but I seriously doubt that. I’ve tried everything and to be honest, I think the only thing that would work for him is having a minor heart attack that might wake him up to the reality of smoking.
Recommend that nicotine gum to her, it worked for my dad.
