I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

i think there is some kide of patch u can put so he will stop but hury cuze he might be at risk
Go to the library and find a book that has actual pictures of what diseased lungs look like. Ever so casually, leave the book up near his plate at dinner. Leave an anonymous, maybe you could type it, note simply saying you’re worried about him.
hmm…i remember trying to make my parents stop smoking. But when my dad had surgery on his throat and the doctor told him that it wasnt good smoking…he miraculously stopped on his own.
Tell your dad to go visit this site for a half hour or so. It kicked me in the butt when I needed it and I used it often when I quit.

Buy him some NickDerm CQ.
Does HE want to stop? Because if he doesn’t, there’s no way for you to get him to – believe me, I know. My mom has been smoking for probably 35 years.
I am about to turn 50, and have been smoking since I was 18. My doctor suggested I try a new product. It’s called Chantix – available by prescription. Unlike the "Patch" you are allowed to continue to smoke. In 3 weeks, it reduced my smoking by 50%. Somehow, the drug attaches to your pleasure receptors in the brain – within the first week of use, one developes a terrible taste in the mouth – and if one smokes a cigarette, it’s like "yuck, this tastes terrible" – the more one smokes, the worse the taste in the mouth becomes. The drug has no side effects, and has a success rate of over 90%. It takes about 3 months to totally stop. Of course, unless your Dad really wants to quit, nothing will work. He has to have the desire to quit. Nothing you say or do will work without his desire to quit.
I use chewing gum and mints to replace the ‘sucking’ habit from cigarettes.
I wish you and your Dad well.
There is nothing you can do. He has to do this himself. He has to get it right in his head that he really wants to quit and then he has to believe he can do it. No one can do it for him. I was addicted bad. two and a half packs a day. Three failed attempts. Support groups didn’t help. Friends and family harping at me only made it worse. I knew I needed to quit but didn’t think I could. Then I woke up one morning and first thing I reached for a cigarette. It was then it hit me! I don’t NEED this. I CAN quit. Six years later, I’m still nicotine free and breathing fantastically. Cold turkey is the answer BUT he has to make that choice. Good luck.
To tell you the truth, if someone doesn’t want to change, they won’t try. Try this, if you can find a pack of his cigaretes, tape a picture of yourself on it. If he won’t change for himself, he’ll change for you.
try a self hypnosis cd or seminar they are really proven to work if you stick with it you trick the body into giving up the habit
that is very thoughtful of you ,but your Dad won’t quit until he wants to,no matter what anyone says
Overcoming an addiction can be very difficult, but it can be done. When you see your Dad making progress, even baby steps, you have to motivate him to continue the process of giving up smoking. Reward him for every step he makes, write him a card, tell him how much you love NOT seeing him smoke. But, first he must start with admitting that he has a problem and that he needs help.
I think it smart that you have decided you are not going to be a smoker as an adult. Do not follow in his footsteps for the sake of your own health.
