I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

This is so simple it just startles me how people have such trouble. You really want to know?! Okay, here it is, sweet and simple: Put the cigarette down, put it out, and throw the rest away and don’t pick them up any more!! How do I know. It’s that old phrase again: "Been there; Done that!!" Any excuses you come up with are just that : excuses, and they won’t help you stop smoking. So, as First Lady Nancy Reagan said so long ago: JUST SAY NO!!! Yeah, she got laughed off the stage. The funny thing is, the laugh’s on you and those who don’t see the truth in the simple answer. I’m not promising you an easy time. That’s not a part of the bargain. I’m just telling you, if you don’t want to do it, DON’T !!! It’s all so simple, and free!! Don’t let the simplicity trip you up!! God Bless you.

I used the patch and deep breathes when the going really got rough. It’s been 6 months, and it’s still one day at a time….

i know what you are going thru. i tried to stop two wks ago, only to smoke again. I got the patches, but, i still smoked on the third day. I did’nt like the way my mouth tasted. I guess it did’nt taste like an ashtray anymore. It was suggested to me to get more help like an inhaler or gum.

I don’t know, I’m a smoker and really don’t have the desire to quit, so I never checked into the options.

you just decide to stop, then stop

  8. Jessica H says:

Patches and gum help. If you have the $$ to go to the doctor, the doc can prescribe Zyban to help you quit too. You could also try a support group. Hope this helps.

well.. dont go cold turkey. just figure out how many packs a day you smoke. slowly.. start to decrease the amount. like two packs.. smoke only one.. then how many cigs a day? cut it in half.. then at the end.. when u get a craving.. chew gum. the craving wont last long. i hope it works for you bc seeing my grandmother struggle on oxygent now 24/7 bc she smoked gives me strength enough to avoid smoking.

That’s tough. I have tried several times to quit and I haven’t been successful yet. Good luck to you!

I reduced the number of cigarettes I smoked per day. You have to identify when and what causes you to smoke. I kept reducing it till I had no desire to smoke. Haven’t smoked in 3 years and have no desire to.

I’ve tried the gum, the patch, the inhaler, and cold turkey, and nothing works. I think the problem is you really have to want to quit. If you don’t REALLY want to quit, you won’t. No matter what you try.
Here’s what you do. Do search on the effects of smoking and look for images. Find all the images of lungs and cancerous legions and gross stuff like that. Then every morning when you wake up, and you have that nasty heavy smokers lung cough, look at the pictures. After you’ve had a cigarette, ask someone if you stink like smoke.
Learn to hate what smoking does to you, and then you won’t want to smoke anymore.

you can’t stop, because your body is used to getting that dose of tobacco. patches like nicotine will provide your body that dose, without smoking.

Very good question. I’ve been smoking for 40 years. I’ve had a heart attack and I’m still smoking. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not bragging. I would love to quit myself, however I’m addicted to cigarettes, just as a person hooked on a drugs. The patches nor cold turkey worked for me. If you’ve not been smoking long, then do yourself a big favor. Quit anyway you can.

support…or if you cant do it for yourself do it for someone else that would better them. 1) set a due date….pick a day on the calander that you want to start slowing down 2) rhome wasnt built in a day…you cant just stop right away, gradually work your way by doing less at a time 3) Have a quiting partner, support eachother 4) give yourself rewards…the money you would usually spend on the cigerettes, put it in a jar and then buy yourself something every check point or something…

im trying to get my mom to smoke but it doesnt work…:-(

It is just like anything else in our lives that we choose to do or not do. You make a determined decision to stop and you stop. Most us of do things in life that we want to do. If quitting smoking is really important to you and it becomes a priority, you will be successful. This is not to say it will be easy, but you can do it.

  17. marky says:

There are many medications that could help you stop smoking such as nicotine patch or gum. But the best thing is your will power to stop it. No matter what you do, it’s all up to you to help yourself. Just bear in mind that aside from burning your money from smoking at the end your health will pay for it. You are killing your lungs. Try to hold your breath and get suffocated, that’s how you’ll feel when time comes from the effect of smoking. Aside from you lungs it can also affect your coronary arteries which causes heart attack, not only coronary arteries but other arteries in your body. Smoking is like committing suicide in a much slower pace.
