I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

If it were me and I had no choice but to stay there, I’d damn well want to make sure that didn’t happen again. Put a check valve on the sewer line where it leaves the house so only sewer can drain out, not in. That’s not a iron clad guarantee but it will help. Its also not a cheap fix. You need to find out where the flooding was coming from.
Also, pull out all the carpet and padding and just use throw rugs that can be easily removed.
Lastly, file a claim with your insurance company…someone should be paying you for all this trouble.
Oh..lastly lastly, get the heck out of there.
Hopefully when they sucked it up they also sprayed with disinfectant. Mold can be removed with water and bleach. A better idea is to get another place to live, preferably upstairs.
If it wasn’t professionally cleaned, I would move ASAP!!!There are serious diseases you can get just from coming in contact with feces and not washing your hands properly. This would be a much more serious contamination.
If I were to continue living there I would want the carpet and tiles removed, then have the area cleaned by a professional company that’s experienced in proper cleaning of waste bacterias. Then replacement of the tile and carpet.
I would be afraid of particles left in the carpet and in between the tiles that you would be walking on, especially without shoes!!!
If it was not properly cleaned, as stated mold will eventually form, and those particles will affect your breathing! Good luck.
Well first of all when you have a sewage damage, you should get rid of the carpet and padding. Because of the potiental pathogens in the sewage, you dont know whats in there. Even if they spray a disinfectent they may not use enough to kill all of the pathogens. They should be able to clean and disinfect the tiles and other hard surfaces unless they are too damaged by the water. They should also set up drying equipment such as dehumidifiers and air movers and air scrubbers. Get in touch with a company called Servpro in your area any they should be able to take care of the problem for you.
