Is the new electric cigarette a good way to stop smoking?

help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more

I’m trying to find out if the electric cigarette is a good way to stop smoking? Is it harmful also? I know it has nicotine but so does the other alternatives, gum, inhalers, patches,and so on. I thought this would be the ticket but some of my friends are saying this is worse because your putting water into your lungs. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

    Honestly, everyone reacts to differently to different products. What works for one doesn’t always work for others. But…

    I’ve been using electric cigarettes for a few months and they have helped my hubby and I in our quest to quit. It has really helped, especially with the hand to mouth addiction. I have been nothing but please with my switch.

    It was very easy to cut back, the first week I went from a pack a day to a 3-5 cigs a day. The hard part was choosing to stop the regular cigs completely. I looked at it like this, I am only smoking a few a day anyway, I might as well just not buy another pack. Now I can’t even stand the smell of a real cigarette.

    Although, I am still addicted to nicotine, I have been cutting my nicotine levels back in steps. I started at 18mg carts. I am to the point now I use 2 different carts Low and 0 nicotine. I use the low cart when I am really having a craving and use the 0 mg cart when I just need to puff or put something in my mouth. I hope to be nicotine free next month.

    I know there is controversy surrounding them, but to me anything has to be better then the 4000+ chemicals I was inhaling. It also has saved me money it costs me between $30-$35 a month to smoke (no month isn’t a typo).

    I tried everything, for me personally ecigs were the only thing that worked. I found a good vendor that was willing to support me through the transition.

    Technically, it is not a quit smoking aid, BUT people have successfully used it to quit.

    My wife and best friend did it like this: First they switch to the ecig, after a few weeks, they cut back the nicotine level, after a few weeks more they cut back again. Basically they use it in steps, like you do with the patch or gum. They both said it helped more though, because it also takes care of your physical addiction of wanting to put something in your mouth. (Which made my wife very happy, because she was very worried about gaining weight when she quit).

    The key is to make sure you start out with the correct nicotine level to satisfy your craving, so you can stop the regular cigarettes, then you start cutting back. If you start with to low of a nicotine, you will not be satisfied and not give up the regular cigarettes.

    It costs the same as the patch or gum to start-around $40. My wife spent about $25 a month on refill liquid for it and it got cheaper as she used it less and less.

    Since there is no tar in electric cigarettes, she experienced slight coughing up of "stuff". Our family doctor examined her and told her it was because her lungs were starting the healing process of purging the tar from them. It is common for people who quit smoking.

    Anything has to be better for you then regular cigarettes.

    They are not tested so they could be unsafe. Use a more traditional method of quitting.

    No, it’s not a good way. They have a tobacco flavor and they contain nicotine. The good thing about them is that they don’t produce harmful 2nd hand smoke.

    They actually don’t make you "Quit" But makes it’s more healthier than a normal cigarette… But it’s basically shit. Dad ordered one, used it, threw it out a week later…

    I’ve been smoking for 6 years now and as someone who has tried every traditional and chemical method of trying to quit, I can say first hand that I don’t give a s**t what people on here say. I’m gonna try it. They have steps to work off the nicotine, though they aren’t advertised a quit smoking aid. they even have a no-nicotine cartridge. Water vapor isn’t that bad in your lungs. it’s not like drowning. it’s gas, not liquid. vapor. key word:VAPOR.

    Besides, even if it doesn’t help me quit, at least I won’t be putting rat poison or battery acid into my lungs anymore.

    A friend of mine got hers and she loves it. Her kids are much happier about the healthier exhale as well.

    No, it’s not designed to help you quit smoking. Those things is to allow you get your nicotine fix in places where smoking is not allowed, so nothing has change.

    If you are planning to quit, cold turkey works for me…But there’s a bit more to it. When I tried to stop that it doesn’t take long for me to fall off the wagon so to speak and start smoking again. I’ve tried many-many techniques to stop and then it hit me one day. I realized that even though that I stopped smoking, psychologically I’m still a smoker…..albeit one who denies himself the pleasure of smoking.

    For instance if you are a alcoholic and one day you are thrown in jail, are you still a alcoholic? The answer is yes. The only difference is that you do not have any access to alcohol. So my point is just denying yourself cigarettes will not work. To really-really stop smoking you have to "be a non-smoker". What that means is that you have to think and have the psychological make up of a non-smoker. Have you heard the saying that to be a millionaire you have to think like one? Well its exactly the same concept.

    Smokers and non-smokers are different types of people. If you can walk into a crowded room and then mentally recognize which are smokers and which are not (assuming none are smoking at the time) then you are close. If you lack the ability to tell them apart then this technique might not work for you.

    Ok, now lets say that you can tell the smokers and non-smokers apart, question yourself what behavioral characteristics which different. Once you recognize the nuance in thinking/behavior all you need to do is model the thinking patter of a non-smoker.

    Once I recognize this in myself, I instantaneously was able to quit with zero cravings whatsoever.

    I have smoked for around 44 years and have not been successful with any of the current methods to quit. I am currently trying the e-cigarette. If I quit fine, but if I don’t I will still feel successful because I am not exposing others to second hand smoke and maybe my lungs will be healthier. I have discovered that I am now truly aware of just how addicted I am to nicotine. The process of filling the cartridge and use of the liquid nicotine has made me face my addiction. Before I just said that I smoked, but now I know I am using a drug delivery system to satisfy an addiction. I am okay with that if I can believe that I am getting healthier.
