…And generally just to feel better. He is feeling so bad right now that he actually started crying. His doctor hasnt made him an appointment yet after finding out thru the x-rays that he had it and its been almost two weeks. Please give me some advice on what I can do, or something he can do, or take to help him feel better. Thanks to all that answers.

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

You can get the nicotine patches and have him start using them. The lack of energy does go with the disease but not to that extreme. If he has just been diagnosed, this may not be the reason he is feeling so tired. It could be a virus or another problem.
Do realize, that everything you do is to help him but if he doesn’t want to quit smoking and take care of himself, there is nothing anyone can do to help.

For right now, tell him that he WILL feel better soon. Getting well is a process, and takes time. There is no reason to despair right now. He can only get better! Then after he sees the doctor……

Get him to pulmonary rehab. They teach you how to breathe and deal with everything related to COPD. Also the usual; eat right, stay active, vitamins and royal jelly tablets (from Jafra). They give energy along with all the other things I mentioned. And prayer too, if you’re a praying person. Can’t hurt! A family member had COPD and went from being on home oxygen and steroids to being OFF of everything except her inhaler and nebulizer. Accolate is another good drug too!

    Best of luck!

my father actually had a scare with that the doctors thought he might have that. he actually switched to a light cig. and cut back on how many he smoked a day. it saves alot of money also. but research it i learned alot about it and if he knows what hes getting into it would help. plus if he were stop smoking for one day it reverses years of damage, taste buds, feelings in the fingers, lungs, hearts, all of that would be a little healthier.

It is easy for a non-smoker to say to quit smoking. With that said, your boyfriends life expectancy is limited, and likely quite short the way you describe him. If he does not stop smoking he will be in a very early grave, say 56. He needs medical help to stop, and stop now. It will be good if the x-rays are negative in terms of lung cancer but the copd can cause lung and heart failure. So it is up to you and friends and family to intervene to get him to stop. At this point you can do little to improve his well being, starting an exercise program must be monitored by a doctor, or that can prove fatal. Good luck.

Don’t recall of the top of my head what they’re called, but there are some medical options that help weaning off cigarettes.

Stop smoking. Having him take something is not a good solution. It’s hard to quit, but keep trying. Many people try multiple times before they finally quit for good.
A lot of the damage has already been done, but he would still benefit a lot from not smoking.

He *must* stop smoking. There was a time when that was impossible for some people, myself included, and it’s doubly hard when one has just received a diagnosis such as this one, but there are now medications that make it possible for anyone to quit.

He must get a prescription for Chantix, the most effective medication, and use it for three or if necessary six months per instructions. If he cannot tolerate it or the therapy fails, he must try Wellbutrin and nicotine replacement therapy — the lozenges are the best. There is no reason a smoker cannot stop using nicotine replacement therapy because in sufficient quantity it eliminates withdrawal. However, out of the box, the quantity of nicotine is not always adequate for a heavy smoker. Therefore, if he fails at stopping with NRT, he must see a doctor who specializes in this and go on combination therapy, which boosts nicotine levels. He must also join a stop smoking group, as that increases the success rate.
