help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more
I’m trying to help and support my sister in her attempt to stop smoking. Each time she’s tried, she ends up gaining weight, and with a lifestyle quite stressful, she returned to cigarettes.
If anyone has any good information about online support groups, messageboards, or an easy way to talk with others in the same boat, I think it might help her.
She’s a beautiful person and been there for me a lot, but I don’t know how to help her do this. She’s a great wife and mother, (never smokes in the house or car around the kids) and unlike many who smoke WANTS to quit.
Those things are so addictive. She knows how harmful it is, and feels so stupid for smoking, which then makes her depressed.
She had some success with the patch, so is starting that and Weight Watchers, and an excercise group she enjoys.
She lives in a small town, and will attend WW meetings, but it doesn’t seem enough support to get through such a tough struggle.
Thanks for any help.
I don’t want to hear about patches, gum or other substitutes…
If you have smoked (cigarettes!) and is now completely free of it, tell me how you managed to stop mentally. How you convinced yourself that you didn’t need cigarettes.
If you want, you can also tell me for how long you smoked, and how long you’ve managed to stay without since then.
Im asking for PERSONAL success and experiences!
Ok im 15 been smoking since 12 i smoke 10 cig a day i wanna stop smoking so badly because my parents are starting to know ive been trying to stop smoking but i cant when i get my pocket money i start to think about cigarettes i know there are strickers and pills to stop smoking i dont want that i want a tricky way to stop
My boyfriend and I are expecting a baby (no we aren’t teens). He smokes weed and cigarettes and the smell drives me crazy when I stay with him some nights. How do I show him that this is going to affect our newborn baby in about 3 months. Is it possible to get him to stop smoking for the sake of our baby or is this something he has to stop doing on his own? Any advice please.
I’ve been hooked on Nicotine for about 2 years now, and im 17-1/2 years of age. Ive tried numerous methods and ways, but somehow my mind keeps giving into the cravings. Sometimes i like to play guitar just to keep my mind off smoking, but after a half hour or so, i give it up and go right for the cigarettes. In my mind, im saying "gotta have a smoke.", but in reality, all its doing is torturing me and my lungs, and my entire body. SOMEONE HELP ME FOR THE SAKE OF MY REALITY CHECK AND RELATIONSHIP WISE!
My mom and step-dad have smoked FOREVER. They have quit twice and eventually go back to it. I want them to quit for good. They spend at least per pack of cigarettes and they get at least three at the store. I know they can use the money for more useful things. I don’t think they understand how harmful smoking is to them. Is there anyway I can get them to stop for good?
For example raise the taxes on cigarettes, let people be more aware, create a law or something.
Its 4 a speech assignment. basically need a solution on how to stop people from smoking.
My husband says he wants to quit smoking we have tried chantix, the patch, nicorette, and everything else under the sun. Last week he told me to even take his debit cards so he wouldn’t be able to buy cigarettes, then today he tells me that he stole change from our 9 year old sons coin collection to buy cigarettes! I am so upset I can not even speak to him, I’m just at a complete loss,If he diesn’t stop this I am going to leave. PLEASE HELP !!!
My friend is smoking for the past 25yrs. He had first heart attack 5 months before. he wants to quit smoking. He has 3-4 cigarettes/ day now. I asked him to reduce it gradually.. he tells thgat if he has to quit he will quit once for all. If he has even one puff he is urged to have more. he tells that he should either leave it once for all or continue smoking..Will it affect him in any ways if he quits smoking immediately?
Some people say that quitting smoking immediately will cause physical health problems.. is it true that stopping immediately may cause severe health problems or can he stop smoking??
I’ve been smoking a pack of cigarettes for 8 years now. At the moment, I am cigarette free for 3 days and 11 hours. This is the first time that I try to quit smoking.
So, I have a few questions…
Is it better to stop smoking and use nicotine patches, or discard any form of nicotine replacements?
I’ve been wearing nicotine patches during the day for the first two days, I took the patch off yesterday afternoon and this morning I took it off an hour after I put it on.
Initially, I was thinking of solving my psychological addiction first, and then the physical one (by using 15 mg nicotine patches for a couple of weeks, then 10 mg, and lastly 5 mg).
Oh, by the way… I’ve been feeling a bit slow and weak for the last 24 hours or so, probably from the nicotine withdrawal, but should I just be patient and endure this for a few days, or go to my original idea of gradually decreasing the nicotine intake?
I actually don’t crave a cigarette that much. I can drink coffee without craving, I can have a drink with my friends who are smokers without craving, I don’t have that strange feeling of not knowing what to do with my hands, etc.
But I was just wondering whether to take nicotine replacement or not.
Btw, I’ve just realized that 15 mg dosage is way too much for me because a pack of my cigarette brand contains 12 mg, so I’ll try with the 10 mg patch instead.
I’m only 16 years old and i am really badly addicted to smoking. I have to have one as soon as i wake up and last thing before I go to sleep. I smoke regularly through out the day and I run out and have no money i steal cigarettes from my mum. I really want to quit because i know the harm it can do to my body but also for my boyfriend so he won’t avoid me just after i have had a cigarette. any help?
Why is Obama trying to get people to stop smoking when he can’t stop? What? It’s okay for the President to smoke, but not anyone else? That ain’t right. I don’t smoke, but my dad does and he shouldn’t have to pay for a pack of cigarettes. It just ain’t right.
My mom has smoked cigarettes for a very long time, and I cannot convince her to stop. I’ve tried giving her facts and statistics about smoking problems and diseases and how she is endangering me, and whenever I try to talk to her about it she says, "Don’t worry about it." And then if I try to lead on the conversation more, she will yell at me. The only other thing she answered me with is, "It’s too hard to quit." But she has never tried to quit before. I am sick of breathing smoke all the time, I’m sick of not being able to have friends over because they get headaches when they are at my house (many have told me), and I am sick of sitting here watching my mother suck on cancer sticks just wasting her life away, and endangering me and everyone else. She refuses to just smoke outside, and air purifiers are not an option. (They are too expensive) We are also not doing so good financially and she ignores the fact that that’s where all the money goes. Please help me.
Thanks for all the answers already, and I have given her facts and such but she just pushes me away and will not listen to me at all. I have ended up in tears trying to convince her but she cares about her cigarettes more. All I ask is for her to try and she isn’t at all. She didn’t stop when she was pregnant with me or my brother, and she almost lost me because I was born prematurely, but she still didn’t try.
This book was written from personal experience. I did acquire the habit of smoking cigarettes around age 17 due to peer influence. I did quit several times before I successfully reversed the habit at age 24, it took me less than 6 months. My research examined the distinct differences between habit and addiction which concluded the ineffectiveness of simply quitting a habit, this method of reversing the habit unfolded as my approach changed to match my conclusion. This method works because it re-

In general, cigarettes smell. It means, when being smoked, of course. It smell so hard that if you do nothing against it, it just stays on your cloths, furniture, walls, wardrobe etc. the smell stays around you as a cloud and when you speak or get closer to someone else. Even he doesn’t get it consciously, his nose will always get what you’ve just done. As an effect, many people will desire to be distant from you, here the smell is tolerable. If you like this situation than everything is fine. But, if you don’t, here are some tips as for how to cover up the smell of cigarettes.
There are some solutions, all are just a solution to the smell, it will never return your health to the place where it could have been without it. So, just take care of this issue too. I don’t tell you not to smoke, but… there are consequences.
Then, we can discuss this issue of how to cover up the smell of cigarettes from one’s mouth.
First, you can chew. Chewing gum without sugar is also good for your dental and mouth health, but will also eliminate bad smells. Try to choose one that has a strong smell, such as mint, it would do the job. The second things you can get into your mouth are candies. Here also mint is preferred.
Now, to remove the smell you can also drink or eat something that has strong smell. Drinking will usually suit better because smoking is usually done after eating, so the hunger is usually gone, weather by the cigarette or by the food consumed. You can drink sweet beverage such as cola, fanta, orange juice if you prefer.
For me, the easiest thing to use, the most beneficial and handy is mint spray. A small spray you can hold everywhere, in your house, your room, car, or in a bag if you carry one. Just psssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Hope you found it useful. Have a good breath smell!
Being a smoker for years I had that problem with 3 cars. The first was so old and broken I wouldn’t mind smoking, eating, drinking, having intimate relations in it… no matter what or where, as long as it kept riding I just did everything I could with it. (Well, I was youngJ)
The second was a convertible; I got is as a prize for winning a swimming championship. Great car. Of course, being opened to fresh air all the time made it smell quite well. At that time I swam 9 times a week for 4 hours each time , so being in the water for long hours and then in my convertible to ride from and to my home made me usually a little cold and as a result smell almost nothing.
So for me only the third car is my test case. And yes, it got some strong smell when I left it in the airport parking when I got to a 21 days vacation in Italy. Unfortunately I forgot there a sack from the supermarket with cheese inside. The days were sunny in the parking and when we came back, well, we had a cheese stench as old as 21 days in august. Don’t imagine it to yourself. It is really an unforgettable experience. And so we get to it- How to get smoke smell out of car. My car!
I can count several options but let me save you time, work and money. So, the winning solution, after many experiments is one:
Ozium is an air sanitizer. It masks and also really eliminates the smell. It is a common product and you can find it all over, in many auto stores. You’ll find it in an 8 oz aerosol can. Spray the seats, its front and also the headliners, where the stanch holds most. If you won’t like its clinical odor then you better buy scented air freshener spray and use it afterward.
That’s it! Now you really know how to get smoke smell out of car. If you want you can use the traditional methods such as cleaning with water and vinegar but it will take you hell lots of time and work.
Hope you found it useful. Have a good car smell!
ive quit smoking for almost 3 weeks and have gone from 140 to 172lb. thats 32 pounds in 3 weeks. i was very lean and i just lost control. i used to use cigarettes as an appetite supressor with my diet but now i find it very hard to stick to a diet. its like the 3rd day that i give in. dieting is extremely harder since i quit smoking. i feel lke i have to eat everything. im gaining hella fat and i need to nip it in the bud. any advice to get my fatass moving in the right direction instead of wineing on yahoo?
Been smoking for 10 years, but my GF means more to me than cigarettes. I am definitely going to need some kind of stop smoking aid to help get me thru it.
She has to quit; she keeps smoking my cigarettes and it is costing me a fortune, as well as ticking me off. I hate nothing more than reaching for my pack and finding it empty.
I`ve been getting quite worried about my parents for some time now. They smoke about 15-20 cigarettes a day and have been since they were 15 years old. Two of my grandparents have died of cancer, probably because of smoking, some years ago. I really don`t want them to die. So if anyone have any good suggestions so that I can get them to stop, please tell me. They have tried to quit smoking before, but I`m not sure how motivated they acctually were…

One of my best friends is 19. I am 18 and I can’t say I’ve never smoked before, because I have with her. She has been smoking for about a year and she smokes about 3 cigarettes a day. I tell her to quit, and she tried it, but said she NEEDED one after "quitting" for 3 days. How do i get her to realize it is bad for her and that she needs to stop?
I am male 55 and smoking since last 35 years, now almost 15 cigarettes a day. Yes i am adicted, no doubt about it …
i am 5′4" with 200 lbs (overweight), have no sugar or blood pressure but have high colestrols and damaged my lungs
What should i do to quit smoking? i tried many a times but failed … only a smoker can understand how difficult it is to quit, so expect some answer from people who already have quit smoking …
I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE … don’t say ‘just quit’ … it does not work, as i don’t have that strong will power & nicotine is now in my blood
