Hello, my dad is trying (and determined) to quit smoking. Some choices that he is willing to take is Nicoteen Gum, Nicoteen Patch, Chantix, or Cold turkey (when you quit smoking without any help). Please pick the option and list positives and negatives about it.
Oh yeah, and just to let you know, my dad only smokes about 1-2 cigarrettes a day. So he’s not a "heavy" smoker. He’s just still addicted to it.

My dad has smoked since he was 15 and hes now in his forties. Ever since I was born, Im 18, he has smoked around me. I dont think he realises what kind of damage smoking does, nevermind second hand smoking. I really want him to quit smoking but he always says ‘In order to quit you actually have to want to, and right now I dont want to.’ Which I think is very selfish because hes shortening his and all the people he smokes arounds life. Any ways I can get him to quit all around? Or atleast stop smoking around me and my family?

About 6 years ago my dad had a stroke due to his excessive smoking. After that he went cold turkey and quit ever since. It was only recently that he started smoking again because he broke up with his new girl friend. He smokes about a pack a day and I’m really worried about his health. So if you have any ideas that would be great.

I want my dad to stop and he does to, but he has tried before, using a patch, but it made him sick and he stopped after like a day or two… Should he have sticked with it or is there a better way? He has been smoking for about 25-30 years.

I have read the statistics of smoking cigarettes, but realize that people who smoke have to quit on their own. My friend is about to become a dad and am worried about his health and how it will effect the baby, even though he smokes outside, away from everybody around him. He’s tried to quit but can’t. I know it is difficult but how can I get him to realize that he should stop smoking?

My dad has been smoking for more than 30 yrs. Now a mass was found in his lungs. If this is cancer, should he stop smoking abruptly? I heard that if you stop smoking abruptly, then there is a bigger chance of developing cancer. Can anybody confirm this. Is quitting gradually more advisable? Thanks

My friends keep tellin me that all my clothes smell like cigarette smoke, its because my dad smokes like a chimney!, and its embaracin when they tell me that. Is there anythin i could do to get rid of the smell??

He’s reaching the half century mark in about 2 years and I’m really starting to get worried for him. I understand how hard it is for him to quit smoking but I want to say something to him that will make him stop. I am his 16 year old son, and he should care about my life and his life. My friend stopped his father from smoking by saying to his father that if he doesn’t stop smoking, that he’ll start. I can’t say that to my dad because he knows my friend said that to his dad. Any suggestions?

My friend told me her dad just got a laser treatment to stop smoking, and he hasn’t picked up a cigarette since the day he got it. My mom is very adamant about quitting and I think this is a really good option if it works. Shes tried all the gums, pills and patches and nothing has worked. Can anyone help me out and tell me more about it, and how effictive it is?

Me and my friend are both only 12 and she smokes ciggarettes. My Dad smokes and I don’t really bother when he smokes around me, but when she smokes, I feel really uncomfortable. How can I convince her to stop smoking and help her through it? I know that it’s bad for her health and I don’t want to have to put up with ciggarette smoke at home and at school =[ Please help
She says that she’ll quit when her Mum does.

my dad is always smoking what should i do to get him to stop smoking should i hide his cigerates?

My dad has been "trying" to stop for about 2 years. He buys the patches, but always puts off the actual quitting.
All it does is waste money. My mum isn’t as bad as my father, who smokes cigarette after cigarette.

When I go to school, people say I stink of smoke, and I do! It’s really embarassing.

I’ve tried speaking to them about it but they just ignore me.

What can I do?

My dad needs triple bypass surgery but has severe emphzyma and lung disease. He also have diabetes. What are the risks and recovery (and how long) if he has the surgery? Is he better off not having the surgery?

My friend’s dad was just diagnosed with COPD and i think of him as my own father which makes this harder. He’s 45 and he refuses to stop smoking and drinking which makes me scared for him. How long does he have if he doesn’t stop smoking? Will it be a painful way for him to go? Please be honest, i would like to show him this and maybe he will stop smoking and try to help himself.
