Lung Detox

Smokers often feel that they blow out most of the smoke they take in. In reality, however, they exhale only 10% of what they inhale. That means 90% of what you puff is lodged in your lungs! Read more...

How can you convince a mom, her boyfriend, and a 20 year old brother to stop smoking? How to make them realize how much damage they’re doing to the younger ones in the house? (14 and 12)

:)

Please and thank you.

My mom has been smoking since she was young and I keep telling her she should quit. She always says that she will and that she know she needs to and she will soon, but I have never seen her try to quit in the 16 years I’ve lived. What can I do to convince her? I was thinking about printing out information about different ways to quit, but I have no idea where to start. Could someone help me out with that too? Please, help me if you can.

My mom smokes a lot and now she has "decided" to quit. But I want to know if there are any reactions she can get from it. For example she has been smoking 38 years and now she decided to quit. She used to smoke 2 boxes a day but then started smoking one a day and now none.

me and my boyfriend made a deal, that we were going to quit smoking.
his part is working, and he’s cut back to one cig a day.
and i want to quit so bad, but it’s hard.
please help me, because nothing i do seems to help.
i need one like every 10 minutes, and it’s not good.
i’ve been smoking for only 2-3 years,
but it’s sooo hard. :/
Also, my mom is the one who keeps buying me cartins of them, even when i tell her DONT GET ME ANY THIS WEEK. she still gets them and says " they will be here if you need them" and i don’t need them, i just want them.. i’ve tried to use the gum, and it didn’t work with me.. i’ve tried to quit so many times, but nothing is working for me. :(

My mom says that she needs to stop smoking. She is not puting the effort into it. I can’t think of any ways to help so it would be nice if someone has any tip or advice on how to get my mother to stop smoking.

I’m planning on quitting starting Aug 21st. My reason is so i can live longer for my child, plus he has asthma and i don’ t want the cigarette smoke in my clothes anymore when he breathes it in. Another reason is gas prices are so high now and between gas prices and buying cigarettes i spend at least -0 a month. This will be my first time ever doing this, i don’t even know how to quit or avoid the cravings. I really can’t afford the smoking cessation classes (don’t know if i spelled the word right lol) i just want to do it on my own. I already know that the nicotine gum won’t work because i already chew gum when i’m smoking a cigarette. Need advice please and thank you to all!
I have people that will support me, like my boyfriend (he wants me to quit also), co-workers, my mom said she’ll support me but she smokes too and i live with her, i know other family members will be willing to help me.

my mom is trying to stop smoking for at least the 4th time now, and she is having a lot of trouble doing so. she doesnt wasnt to buy anything or use any medication, expencive or not, but she doesnt know what to do. i just want to help her out and want to know how to do so, thanks.

My mom is getting tested for it so Im a bit worried, although, she doesnt smoke but shes been coughing a lot latley.
How likely are you to die form it if you dont smoke?

My granmother wants to smoke and is slowly killing herself which is tearing my mother up. So my mom yells at my gran, who gives in and has cut down the smoking dramatically. My gran is sick with COPD and can barely breathe.

I am a smoker who is trying to quit but when I am around my gran wants to smoke more. So everyone wants me to yell at her not to smoke but I don’t even like yelling. I have tried talking with her as an adult but there is real langauge barriers.

So whats the right choice?

My friend told me her dad just got a laser treatment to stop smoking, and he hasn’t picked up a cigarette since the day he got it. My mom is very adamant about quitting and I think this is a really good option if it works. Shes tried all the gums, pills and patches and nothing has worked. Can anyone help me out and tell me more about it, and how effictive it is?

My uncle just found out he has lung disease and that there is nothing they can do for him about it. He was really upset and everyone else started balling when they found out and my mom keeps crying over it so I am guessing it is really bad but I don’t know much about lung disease. Can anyone please help me? I want to know how long he has to live?
