I am bound and determined to quit smoking, it’s been two days since I’ve had a smoke. I used to smoke a pack a day. I went cold turkey, and am using nicotine gum But the cravings are still really strong to smoke. I know individual experience will vary, but how long did it take for your really bad cravings to go away?
My friend has been smoking for 7 years and she knows that’s it’s bad for her health, and etc. Sometimes she wants to quit but sometimes not. She’s tried quitting a couple of times. Once with a patch, once with the nicotine gum, but then she starts again. I really want to help but she says she’s really addicted, and too stressed out to be able to quit, and that she also doesn’t want to gain weight. I don’t know how to make her want to quit so bad that she would. Please help!!
I know each person is different, but about how long does it take for the cravings to go away. I can restraint from a cigarette for 8 hours each day at work, and have gone as long as 12 hours when I was on a trip with students. However, the minute the opportunity arises I’m having a cigarette. I crave the act of smoking much more than the nicotine I recieve from it (nicotine gum makes me crave a cigarette). I’ve tried to quit unsuccessfully and find if I don’t have access to them, the nicotine cravings occur about every 4-6 hours while the craving for a cigarette occurs ever 15-30 minutes. How long would it take for these cravings to disappear?
If you don’t understand the difference between craving a cigarette and craving the nicotine I don’t really know how to explain it to a non-smoker. Sorry.
I’m planning on quitting starting Aug 21st. My reason is so i can live longer for my child, plus he has asthma and i don’ t want the cigarette smoke in my clothes anymore when he breathes it in. Another reason is gas prices are so high now and between gas prices and buying cigarettes i spend at least -0 a month. This will be my first time ever doing this, i don’t even know how to quit or avoid the cravings. I really can’t afford the smoking cessation classes (don’t know if i spelled the word right lol) i just want to do it on my own. I already know that the nicotine gum won’t work because i already chew gum when i’m smoking a cigarette. Need advice please and thank you to all!
I have people that will support me, like my boyfriend (he wants me to quit also), co-workers, my mom said she’ll support me but she smokes too and i live with her, i know other family members will be willing to help me.
I’m 16 and I have been smoking for about 2 years now, I’m planning to stop because I’m going to a private school. I don’t want to put my parents money to waste, and I don’t want to ever break there heart if they find out about my bad habit. I’m very much addicted, I need about 3 cigerattes a day. I’m asking how I should stop smoking because it’s not like I’m going to buy nicotine patches or nicotine gum. Should I just slowly do less and less until I’m finally off of it. If your advice is to me is to just completely stop, its not that easy, even for someone who’s only done it for 2 years. If I don’t do it for a couple days my mind goes crazy. Does anyone have some real and sensible advice. Also I usually get my cigs from fishing.
