What could it mean if a 35 year old man who has COPD has coughed up blood?

He’s been smoking since he was 12, diagnosed with COPD a few months ago, smokes 4 to 8 cigarettes a day (according to him), has asthma to boot.

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me.     It could mean he has some kind of infection. Or if he has been coughing hard, he could have ruptured some small blood vessels in his lungs. Too many possibilities check with a doctor.

    If it is truly blood from the lungs …. you need to go to the doctor immediately … there are a significant number are problems that present this way ….

    With your smoking history …. regardless of your current age … I would be concerned …
