What is a good stop smoking snack for my Husband who just had a heart attack?

help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more

My husband just had a heart attack and was diagnosed with high cholesterol, he was using sun flower seeds to help him quit smoking (which he desperately needs to do) but doesn’t like the ones without salt. Clearly the salted ones are another heart attack waiting to happen so is there another snack that I can get him to help that is low fat and sodium?

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

smoking double the risk of heart attack in the presence of previous heart attack or high cholesterol, sedentary or diabetes.
Coronary artery disease has numerous causes from genetic to dietary to life style. The goal is to modify risk factors that can be correctable. Smoking cessation is not easy. Ask your MD about quitting process, it could be with medicine ( chantix, antidepressants)nicotine patch, non nicotine cigarettes, hypnotism, bio-feedback etc.
He has to go in to a strict diet trying to eliminate high cholesterol, food like red meat, egg yolk, cheese, seafood, fry stuff. His sugars has to be under control if diabetic. he need to start an exercise program supervised by cardiology. It is multitask intervention. Talk to your MD about all this.

if the heart attack didn’t scare him into quitting….seeds won’t help him…..

xantax is a prescription drug, that has helped me and my husband to quit. It worked wonders. But i would think he should talk about that with his doc and if it would be safe for him to take after his his heart condition. I don’t think that it would be a good idea to start a new addiction (such as eating whatever…) to get rid or an old one, but that’s just my personal opinion.
    Wish him all the best!

Wanting to smoke is part chemical and part behavioral. I would think you would want to address those things.

To address the chemical maybe go with the patch as it dispenses so much per strength (mg) per stage and eventually the chemical dependency leaves
the body creating the urge to pass.

Behavior would be to replace him picking up a cigarette with perhaps something physical to take his mind off of the desire.

Eating snacks is ok but just have him eat the typical healthy items. Also, chewing gum could be helpful. Carefree gum is long lasting and good to replace something in his mouth.
