Coffee is well known as a natural asthma treatment, most doctors will even tell you that. However, it is best as a boost to medical treatment or in an emergency. It should not be what you rely on.
Additionally, you need to be sure to maintain hydration (compensate for the dehydration of caffeine), or it will , in the end, worsen your symptoms.

On a vacation in Maine last week, I stopped at a coffee shop. Since I have COPD, I jokingly asked the young man behind the counter for something to help me breath better. He immediately said, "Have an espresso". I thought he was joking,, but then he said that his sister, who has asthma, felt instant relief after after a shot of espresso. I had one, and the relief was almost instant. I swear by it now...have an Espresso machine. Today is the first day I have had NO wheezing at all. Two cups of strong coffee in the morning, and two small shots of strong espresso have done wonders for me!

it wont get rid of it it will just reduce the wheezing

I dound out that no matter what just try to breathe in as slowly as possible. Sit on a chair or floor and just breathe in and out slowly. Gasping for air will not help and could make it worse!! u can try leaning back or lean forward(which everyone is more comfortable) '

From my own experience.....

If I don't have an inhaler handy (and I have severe asthma) I have been stuck in this position before and I found the instant solution. Go to your nearest coffee shop and order a triple shot of espresso. Don't add anything at all - yuck, I know. You take the tiny cup when it's cool enough to handle and take a big enough sip to hold for about 30 seconds or more under your tounge. You keep doing that till it's gone. It usually clears the asthma symptoms within 5 minutes of starting. The only other thing you must do is remove yourself from any irritant that caused the symptoms - ie. a large crowd of smokers, large dusty areas, a shady area that may contain mold, and for me it was an airport (allergic to rubber and off gassing). I am glad to pass this on to you for help.

I tried adding just a little cream and it failed, just a little sugar will fail it, it must be taken sub lingually black as it came out of the espresso maker.
It's the caffeine that dilates your lungs, and the old theophillin pills were known to be an equivalent to 24 cups of coffee worth of stimulant similar to caffeine.

No, not really. You could try and calm down your breathing, but nothing is going to open your lungs like Albuterol. Make sure you are using a spacer, you get 80% MORE of the medicine that way!
