What’s the best way to stop smoking?

help me to stop smoking! stop smoking medications, stop smoking help, stop smoking plans and more

I’ve been smoking for 13 years now and really want to stop but have no willpower at all. I got Champix from the doctor but have read so many bad things abut them i have not taken them. I used the patches for a few days but came out in big red marks where they had been. I really want to stop but just don’t know what to do. Can anyone help??

I know exactly how you feel, I was in a very similar situation. I remember that I was so nervous at that time and I took it out on everyone around me. I didnt know what could I do until, thanks god, I found Smoke Deter. Now I can look back and laugh on myself and in the same time I remember how helpless I was. I hope that I'll never be in the same situation again

willpower really is the key in any addiction, you really need to persevere more. I know it’s not what you want to here but its true — > :)

    Heya.
I’m trying to quick smoking aswell.
I’ve been using the gum to quit and its working.
with the gum it lets you cut down on fags and then one day you wont need to smoke.

See how it goes with the gum.
    :)

There’s a new drug out that suppresses the addiction centre of the brain.

Try the gum if the patches won’t work. If they won’t work try hypnosis. Keep stopping until you stop!

there is this tablet i know that is available,
you can get it from your doctor and you can only take it once, so if you dont end up quitting, then you cant try again with that tablet.
i hear it’s supposed to help ALOT.

I quit three years ago cold turkey. I got tired of having a smokers cough, especially in the mornings. I don’t know anything about Champix but if it really does help to stop smoking then the side effects can’t be too much worse than smoking is.

I just had a long time friend die of emphysema from smoking and it was very sad to see her suffering and unable to breathe.

I’ve never smoked but my uncle used to. When he wanted to stop he built up his willpower by thinking of all the benefits and writing them down and reading them whenever he thought his willpower was weakening. For example, he thought of how much longer he would live and be around to see his children and grandchildren and all the other members of his family. He also thought about how much money he’d save by quitting and what he could do with it. All those things among others made him have the determination to give up. Since you want to give up, you must have a reason or reasons why. Keep those in mind and your willpower will grow. Also, if you live in the UK you can go to an NHS Stop Smoking meeting and try out a variety of different methods to stop and have to support of others who are going through the same as you. Some find it easier to go cold turkey and some find it helps to use stop smoking aids; it’s just a case of finding out what’s best for you.
I wish you the best of luck:-)

Its very hard to stop smoking.
One way to stop is to stop abruptly.
Another is to reduce by smoking less cigarettes from each pack – in a 3 to 4 days ~cycle~~ till theres no more to reduce.
Eat salty chips when you feel the need to smoke.
It takes a few weeks or months to really stop.
using lots of chewing gum daily will also remove the desire to smoke.
Also plain ~warm~tea ~@ crucial times ~may help.
    cheers

Just keep concentrating on the fact that you really want to stop. I stopped a month ago after 20 years of heavy smoking and I LOVE not smoking. It is hard at times but the benefits far outweigh the cravings.
I am using the Nicotinell patch and it hasn’t given me a rash, the Nicorette one did.
    Good luck!

There are so many stop-smoking aids on the market it’s hard to know which is best…

It sounds like a non-nicotine based method might work best for you. There are herbal remedies available, and hypnosis has also worked for many people.

There’s even a Nicotine Anonymous group (modeled after AA).

Sometimes a combination of two methods works best.

  12. Derek B says:

    Try using electronic cigarettes.
They have 4 different strengths of nicotine.
These brand new mini cigs are amazing.
They 80% than normal cigs and can help weene you off.

What is really great about these is that you can ‘smoke’ them anywhere.
